Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Why rent a GPS unit from GPS4Rent.com and not from a rental car company?
When you rent from us you can be assured that you are getting the latest mapping on your unit along with newer features that most rental car company units do not have. It also is very common for the rental car agencies to have all of their units rented out and with us you will be guaranteed to have a unit for your trip.
We also offer newer and superior (higher end) GPS units. Why rent an outdated GPS model that has a much slower processor and outdated mapping software when you can rent one from GPS4Rent that is a much newer model?
We have the right GPS solution for you from vehicle navigation for cars and motorcycles to navigation systems with European mapping software. We also offer handheld portable navigation systems for hiking, backpacking, geo-caching, treasure hunting, bicycling, as well as two-way GPS radios with GPS locate ability for hunting, fishing, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and even Marine GPS systems for boating. We have a GPS system that will fit your need. Contact us today to reserve your GPS unit!
Q. Why should I rent instead of buying?
GPS4Rent.com was designed with the specific goal in mind to provide customers nationwide the ability to rent a GPS unit when they need a GPS for just a few days or a week or more. In addition, customers who wish to experience a GPS system before committing to an expensive unit or only need a GPS system for short duration of time for business or pleasure trips can do so at a very reasonable price. There are certain occasions that come up once or twice a year where having a GPS unit would make life a lot less stressful by having a GPS as a travel companion in an unfamiliar area.
Q. What other benefits will I enjoy by renting a GPS unit from GPS4Rent.com?
Some car rental companies have their GPS system attached to the vehicle, which makes it impossible to use as a portable system aka (Pedestrian mode). We have specific GPS units that are designed to include the pedestrian mode features when available. How can this benefit you? When going to an unfamiliar area you can save where you parked your car on certain portable GPS systems from GPS4Rent and find your location back to your car when needed. This is only applicable in city streets, not in parking garages.
Q. Do you have units to rent that have traffic information on them?
Yes, depending on the city you will be using it in, we have certain units that include the TMC information and can assist you better in heavily congested highways. In these cases the unit will ask you if you wish to select an optional route. These features are only available in certain cities and there is an additional rental charge for this type of traffic enabled GPS units.
Q. Do you have units to rent that have European maps on them?
Yes, we have units that have European maps preloaded on select GPS models at a slightly higher cost.
Q. How much is the late fee per day?
Late rental fees will be a charge of $24.95 per day, due to the popularity of these units and limited inventory on hand at any one time. We schedule rentals accordingly based on our rental schedules and receiving units later than the committed rental period can interrupt our schedule rental flow and commitments for other customers.
Q. Why do you authorize my credit card for a charge of MSRP?
This pre-authorized deposit charge is only used to secure the GPS unit and the deposit amount fund is released when the unit is return to us undamaged. You will only pay the amount that you have committed to if the unit is returned in the same condition as it was received. A deposit in the amount of the MSRP will be reserved on your card at time of ordering.
Q. How do you ship?
We ship all rental units either UPS 3 day, 2nd day air or UPS next day or, depending on your choice, to ensure the unit is delivered to you in time before your trip. Customers pay for actual shipping charges. GPS units are also shipped with insurance and signature required for delivery for your security and benefit. We recommend you order your rental unit with a one-day buffer before your trip begins to ensure you will receive your GPS unit in time for your trip.
Q. How far in advance must I order to ensure I get the unit when I need it?
We recommend you order your rental GPS unit in advance due to high season demands. Making a reservation 30 days before your trip guarantees you a GPS unit when you need one. Reservation 2 weeks in advance is always recommended. The latest you can order a GPS unit from us is 2 business days before you are going on your trip. In this situation we will do our best to accommodate you, but cannot guarantee that we will have a GPS unit available to rent. We do offer a delivery guarantee and, as a last resort, there is always overnight delivery. The best way, however, is to order on time.
Example: Customer is going out of town on Saturday the 30th of December. Since deliveries are only made on weekdays, customer must order the GPS unit no later than 4 pm EST on Tuesday the 26th of December. Delivery date has to be a weekday so customer will receive the item on Thursday or Friday.

Q. What is the process for sending the unit back to GPS4Rent.com?
Your item will be shipped to you with a prepaid return label included inside the box. All you have to do is make sure you package everything that we included inside the original box we shipped to you, making sure the unit is well protected with insulation, and ship us back the GPS unit in the same box that the unit was sent to you via UPS. You must attach the adhesive label to the outside of the box and drop the package off at one of your local UPS shipping stores. We highly recommend that you obtain a receipt and tracking number for your records.
Q. Is it possible to purchase the GPS?
Yes, we can sell you the GPS rental unit at current market price listed on Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc. www.autonav2000.com. Rental fees will not be deducted from the purchase price.
Q. What happens if I lose the unit or it gets stolen?
You are 100% responsible for the unit while you are in possession and control of it. In the event your item gets lost, stolen or damaged, your credit card deposit fee plus any additional cost of the unit will be charged to you based on the amount of the replacement value for the GPS unit as agreed upon in the terms and conditions.
Q. Do you have any recommendations on things to do to prevent loss or theft?
We highly recommend you treat the rental GPS unit like you would with your own laptop computer, wallet or purse. Never leave any valuable items, including your rental GPS in plain sight. GPS units that are left in plain view in a vehicle are invitations to theft and if you do not wish to have your vehicle broken into, store the GPS unit in the trunk or glove box out of view when you park your vehicle. Even better, take it with you to reduce the chance of such losses. If you choose to take your GPS unit in a hotel room, make sure you put it in a safe place or in a locked safe just like the rest of your valuables.
Q. How do I contact you if I have any questions about renting?
All you have to do is go to the contact us page on the website. On that page you can email us with questions at any time or you can call us during business hours as stated by the customer support number
